Now you want the right space.

You are not interested in a home birth. You want the comfort, the privacy, and the experience of a birth center — but you have already found a midwife you trust, and she does not have one.

That is a more common situation than you think. And it does not have to be a problem.

Transitions Birth Center operates an open birth center model. That means licensed midwives apply for facility privileges here — the same way physicians have privileges at a hospital. Your midwife provides your care. We provide the space. You do not have to start over with someone new.

How to make it happen

    Tell your midwife you want to birth at TBC.

    Let her know you are interested in a birth center birth and that Transitions has an open model. Many midwives are not aware this option exists.

    Have her reach out to us — or reach out yourself.

    We can start the conversation with your midwife directly, or you can introduce us. Either way works. Our credentialing process is straightforward.

  3. 03

    We get her credentialed.

    The process involves verifying her license, certifications, and malpractice insurance. It is not complicated. We move quickly when a family is motivated.

  4. 04

    You birth at Transitions with the midwife you already trust.

    She provides your clinical care. We provide two private suites, hydrotherapy, emergency equipment, and a team that has your back.

Private Birth Suites

Your own space for labor, birth, and recovery. No shared rooms, no strangers, no interruptions.

Hydrotherapy

Every suite has a large birthing tub. Water labor reduces pain, supports relaxation, and gives you options.

Emergency Equipment

Emergency medications and neonatal resuscitation equipment on-site. Safety is built in, not an afterthought.

Immediate Transfer Access

St. Vincent Southside is directly across the street. If you need the hospital, we get you there fast and stay with you.
